Pear cut diamond engagement rings often need a shaped wedding band to go with them because of the unique shape of pear cut diamonds. The wedding band will often needs to be handmade, especially if you have a custom engagement ring. This process takes approximatly 2-4 weeks.

Sometimes you can get an off the shelf wedding band that will fit, maybe it can be adjusted slightly to fit but often it will need to be handmade from scratch.

When making a shaped wedding band the jeweller will need to keep the engagement ring (for as shorter time as possible) so they can be sure they two fit perfectly together. To avoid excessive wear it is always best to have the engagement ring and wedding ring made of the same metal. E.G A platinum engagment ring will need a platinum wedding band.

There are of course things you can do to to make sure that the wedding band sits flush with the engagement.

A wed fit ring allows the wedding ring to sit flush with the engagement ring by raising the diamond up, above the level of the top of the engagement ring.

If, however,  you are keen to keep the stone as low as possible, then a shaped wedding band is the way to go.

If you wish to have the stone set lower, then this isnt ideal and a fitted or shaped wedding band is the answer.  On the whole, these will need to be custom made and you should allow approximatly 4-6 weeks for this process.
